Civil engineering software for the whole job, from plan to bill

Civil engineering software usually means five or six separate programs: one for drafting, one for modelling, one for the estimate, one for the bar bending schedule, one for the programme, and a phone app for site. CivilOS is those tools in one browser tab, written for Indian practice, with a Free plan to start and nothing to install. Draw the plan, take the quantities, price them on the DSR, build the programme, inspect the work, and bill it — from the same project.

It is built for the people who actually do this work: site engineers, draughtsmen, estimators, quantity surveyors, contractors, PMC staff, consultants and students. The maths is deterministic and shown step by step; the AI features are kept to the places where reading a document or answering a question needs them, and every safety-critical output is a draft for a licensed engineer to check.

One platform instead of six programs

The cost of separate tools is not the licences alone; it is the re-entry between them. The plan is redrawn to take quantities, the quantities are retyped into the estimate, the estimate is copied into the programme, and every copy is a place for a number to change. CivilOS keeps one project: the geometry the plan was drawn with is the geometry the take-off measures, the measured rows are the BOQ lines, and the BOQ lines are what the estimate pack and the running bill read.

Each module is still usable on its own. A contractor who only wants the bar bending schedule, a draughtsman who only wants a sheet plotted to scale, a planning engineer who only wants a CPM programme — each opens one module and ignores the rest.

Built for Indian practice, usable anywhere

The defaults are Indian because the users are: IS-code items and modes of measurement, CPWD DSR 2023 shipped as data with a State PWD schedule loadable beside it, NBC 2016 planning guidance, government formats for the estimate pack and the RA bill, and a checklist library that covers the sectors Indian firms actually build in. The interface runs in 24 languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi and Urdu.

None of that stops it working elsewhere: units switch to imperial, currencies are shown in eighteen options, rates can be your own set, and the drafting, BIM, planning and audit tools carry no Indian assumption at all.

How to start

  1. Create a free account — a minute, no card. Every module opens with a monthly allowance on the Free plan.
  2. Pick the module for the job from the left sidebar; the dashboard tour describes each one.
  3. Work in one project. Draw or import the plan, take the quantities, price them, build the programme, inspect the work.
  4. Export what the office expects — DXF, IFC, Excel with live formulas, PDF sheets with a title block, KML.
  5. Read the Training Corner when a module is new to you; every module is explained in plain language with drawings.

What CivilOS does not do

Where a browser tool fits

Large organisations buy desktop suites for reasons a browser platform does not replace: multi-user rate libraries with approval chains, ERP integration, XREF-based sheet sets across hundreds of drawings, worksharing on one model, and a support contract. That work is real, and CivilOS does not claim it.

What a browser platform is good at is the large remainder: the engineer who needs a priced bill for tomorrow's meeting, the small practice without a licence budget, the site engineer on a tablet, the class of forty machines, the student learning what an abstract of cost contains. CivilOS is built for that end of the market and says so.

Frequently asked questions

Is CivilOS free civil engineering software?
Yes, to start. Create a free account (no card) and the Free plan opens every module, including CAD, BIM, BOQ and the rest, with a monthly allowance; prints carry the CivilOS letterhead. Pro, Max and Enterprise Seats plans add more hours and generations and put your own letterhead on every print. The Training Corner, Knowledge Library and Feedback are free without limit.

Which parts of a civil engineer's work does it cover?
Drafting (IndoCAD), building information modelling (Indo-Revit and BIM Studio), concept floor plans, quantity survey and bar bending schedules, BOQ and estimation on published schedules of rates, the estimate pack and RA bill, CPM planning, QA/QC registers, offline site audits, GIS on a live map, and a knowledge library. Every module writes to the same project.

Does it follow Indian codes?
Yes. Quantities follow IS-code practice (IS 456, IS 2502, SP 34, IS 1200 modes of measurement), rates come from CPWD DSR 2023 shipped as data or a State PWD schedule you load, plans use NBC 2016 guidance, and the estimate and bill formats are the government formats a department expects. The same tools work in metric or imperial for projects abroad.

Does it do structural analysis or design?
No. There is no analysis or design solver of the STAAD or ETABS type. CivilOS details, quantifies, prices, plans and checks what a designer has decided; member sizes, grades and reinforcement come from your designer's drawings.

Can I use it on site, on a phone?
Yes. The Live Site Audit module works fully offline with photos and GPS stamps and syncs later; the rest of the platform runs in a phone browser and can be installed as an app from the sidebar.

Do I need to install anything or create an account?
No installation: CivilOS opens in an ordinary browser on a laptop, tablet or phone and can be installed as an app from the sidebar. A free account is needed to open the engineering modules; it takes a minute and asks for no card.

Draft for checking. Every safety-critical output of CivilOS is a preparation document. Drawings, quantities, rates, programmes and inspections must be verified, and the result signed off, by a licensed professional before they are issued, tendered, built or paid against.
