DPR and MIS software for construction usually means a shared Excel file that three people are afraid to open at the same time. CivilOS keeps the same two documents every project already produces — the daily progress report from site and the weekly and monthly MIS for management — and joins them: the quantities the site engineer types into the DPR on a phone are the quantities the week's MIS opens with, and the months add up to the year by themselves.

One report layout, twelve kinds of project
A director comparing a hospital, a highway and a solar plant needs the same columns in the same place on all three. So the layout of the DPR and the MIS never changes; what changes with the sector is the list of activities — a road is measured in GSB, WMM and DBM, a building in RCC and blockwork, a transmission line in tower foundations and stringing. Twelve sector presets fill that list to start from, and the project team replaces the weights with the split of its own priced BOQ.
Arithmetic a checker can redo
Project progress is the weighted sum of how far along each activity is, capped at 100 per cent and with an unmeasured activity flagged rather than counted as zero. The planned figure is a straight line between the planned dates unless someone types one. The fund requirement is what is owed plus the unbilled balance spread over the days that remain. None of it is estimated by a model, all of it is stated on the sheet, and the Excel workbook carries every derived figure as a live formula — change a quantity and the summary in front of it moves.
Who may see the money
The people who file the DPR are usually the contractor's; the budget is the owner's. The Financial MIS is therefore a separate grant: without it a person sees and updates the physical progress only, the financial half is removed on the server before the report ever reaches their device, and when they save, the finance team's figures are kept exactly as they were.
How to start
- Create a free account and a team; add the organisations — client, PMC, contractor — once, with their logos.
- Add a project: pick the sector, set each activity's scope and weight, the cost heads and their budget, the start and completion dates.
- Put the site team on the project so they see this job and no other.
- File the DPR every day from a phone — it keeps working with no signal.
- Open the Weekly or Monthly MIS: the period's quantities arrive from the DPRs; add the money, submit, approve, and print the Excel or the PDF.
What CivilOS does not do
- No CPM scheduling here. The planned curve is a straight line per activity or a typed figure; the network lives in the Project Scheduler module.
- No accounting, purchase orders or payments. It reports committed, certified and paid; it does not post them.
- No push notifications to a closed phone. Reminders ring while the app is open or recently in the background.
- No logos inside the Excel file — the PDF carries them; the workbook names the three parties in its header.
- No certification of progress or payment. The figures are as entered by the project team and are read with the signed measurement and billing records.
Where a browser tool fits
Large owners with an ERP and a Primavera-integrated reporting layer already have cost-loaded schedules, earned-value dashboards and approval workflows wired to their ledgers. CivilOS does not replace that.
The PMC, contractor or developer whose DPR is a WhatsApp photo of a register and whose MIS is last month's Excel with new numbers typed over the old — for them, one place where the site's figures become management's figures without being retyped, on a Free plan and a phone, is the step that is actually missing.

What is the difference between a DPR and an MIS in construction?
The DPR (daily progress report) is the site's record of one day: what was built and where, how many people and machines were on site, what material came and went, and what held the work up. The MIS (management information system report) is what management reads every week or month: progress against the plan, money against the budget, and what needs a decision. In CivilOS the second is built from the first — a week's MIS opens with that week's DPR quantities already in it.
Is it free?
Yes, to start. Create a free account (no card) and the Free plan opens every module, including Indo MIS / DPR, with a monthly allowance; prints carry the CivilOS letterhead. Pro, Max and Enterprise Seats plans add more hours and generations and put your own letterhead on every print. The Training Corner, Knowledge Library and Feedback are free without limit.
Can each site team see only its own project?
Yes. The Admin puts people on a project; they see that project's DPR and MIS and no other. A person can be put on several projects, made read-only on one of them, and kept out of the Financial MIS while still filing the DPR and the physical progress. This is enforced on the server, not just hidden on the screen.
How is the budget required for the next week, month or quarter worked out?
For each cost head: what is outstanding now (certified less paid), plus the unbilled balance (forecast less certified) spread evenly over the days remaining to completion. Each horizon — 7, 30, 90 and 365 days — is cumulative from the report date. It is a suggestion, the sheet says so, and any figure can be typed over.
Can I edit the Yearly MIS or the Project MIS?
No, by design. They are consolidated from the Weekly and Monthly MIS every time they are opened, so they can never disagree with the months under them. To change a yearly figure you correct the month it came from.
Can a client see the MIS without joining my team?
Yes. The Admin creates a passcode that names exactly what it opens — the MIS, its financial half, or the QA/QC and audit records — for chosen projects, read-only or not, with an expiry. The client signs in with a free account and types the code once. Switching the passcode off stops it at once.
Does it replace Primavera, MS Project or an ERP?
No. It reports progress and money; it does not schedule with a CPM network (the Project Scheduler module does that separately), it is not a ledger, and it does not raise purchase orders or pay anyone. The planned curve is a straight line between an activity's dates unless you type the planned figure.
Do I need to install anything or create an account?
No installation: CivilOS opens in an ordinary browser on a laptop, tablet or phone and can be installed as an app from the sidebar. A free account is needed to open the engineering modules; it takes a minute and asks for no card.
